    Congratulations!  GS&P celebrates 30 years of creative excellence and ad community support this year. 

    The San Francisco agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners was founded in 1983 by Hal Riney alums Jeff Goodby, Rich Silverstein and Andy Berlin. It's gone from humble beginnings to become a major player in the agency world, with more than $1 billion in billings and past agency of the year honors from Adweek and Advertising Age.  The principals have received numerous awards and commendations, including the GSFAC Ad Person of the Year honors.  Way to go Jeff & Rich and the whole GS&P team!

    2013 Greater SF Ad Club Scholarship

    The Greater SF Ad Club Student Scholarship Foundation is again pleased to announce the availability of up to three $2,000 scholarships for college or university students seriously interested in pursuing a career in advertising. 

    Relevant career paths could include marketing communications, journalism, creative (art direction, copywriting), media (planning, buying, sales), interactive production, broadcast production, strategic planning, social media, and search engine marketing/optimization.

    2013 SF ADDY Winners

    Goodby Silverstein & Partners was the overall winner with 24 ADDY Awards, including Best of Show, Best of Print, 9 Golds and 13 Silvers.

    Venables Bell & Partners placed a close second, winning 23 ADDY Awards, including Best of Digital/Integrated, 5 Golds and 17 Silvers.

    Hub Strategy took third with the Best of Broadcast ADDY, 1 Gold and 5 Silvers.

    Forty-five agencies and individuals submitted nearly three-hundred entries in this year's competition, and sixteen won at least one award. Twenty Golds and forty-seven Silvers were awarded. Advertising students in the Bay Area submitted over 50 entries in the 2013 Student ADDY Competition as well.

    Judges still smiling after a looong Saturday spent critiquing 350 entries in this years SF ADDY Awards Competition.

    Apps and Ads to Take Center Stage at Mobile Media Summit SF 2013

    January 22 Conference to Focus on How Advertisers and App Developers Are Leveraging the Mobile Landscape

    Mobile Media Summit, the largest media and advertising mobile event in North America, kicks off its 2013 conference series on January 22 in San Francisco with a day-long program focused on the intersection of advertising and apps.

    The Advertising Research Foundation (ARF) is heading to SF January 14–16, 2013! Join ARF as they hit the west coast for a series of special events.

    Programs include a large Industry Leader Forum on the "Future of Marketing Research" as well as several smaller events and workshops on many of the issues everyone is facing in advertising today. 

    Groupon, GFK, ABC Disney, NPD, Universal McCann, Pandora, IPG, and MRM are some of the companies involved. Many of them events are FREE!

    ARF is also hosting a Young Professionals Social (professionals 30 and under) on Jan 14. It should be a great opportunityto meet, mingle and network.

    Get your entries ready!  The SF ADDY® Awards promises to be bigger and better than ever.  It will be more competitive and more inclusive.  There will be new categories and updated rules.  The GSFAC Board has appointed Jeffrey DeLong (Jumpstart Automotive Group) as ADDY Chair.  Jeffrey has been an AAF National ADDY Awards coordinator and consultant for a number of years and has been a member and past GSFAC Board member working on the SF ADDYs for over four years.  Look for the ADDY Awards CFE soon and watch for updates on the website and by email from GSFAC.  SF is the tops for creativity — Go for the Gold ADDY!

    Long time GSFAC member Harvey Bailey passed away November 4th.  Harvey began his career at Campbell-Ewald, Detroit in '56.  At 27, he was the youngest creative supervisor at Foote, Cone & Belding winning many awards.  Harvey lived and worked in the SF Bay Area for 27 years, owned his own ad agency, produced his own blog, "Daily Harvey Bailey", and most recently was a faculty member of the Art Institute of San Francisco.  The SF ad community has suffered a real loss and we send condolences to his family and friends.

    Gumas Advertising wins the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce's 2012 excellence in Business Award (Ebbie) for the ad agency's work promoting "Challenger Brands." The Award was presented to John Gumas, founder of Gumas Advertising, at the annual Ebbie Awards Gala held at the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco.  John is a member and past Board member of the Greater San Francisco Ad Club and a well recognized leader in the SF ad community.  Congratulations to the entire team at Gumas Advertising.

    Adam Werbach is the Chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi S and also the Chief Sustainability Officer of Saatchi & Saatchi. He’s the author of Strategy for Sustainability, published by Harvard Business Press. At Saatchi & Saatchi, Werbach guides global sustainability work from wind turbines to hybrid cars. A life-long activist, at age 23 Werbach was elected the youngest-ever President of the Sierra Club, the oldest and largest environmental organization in the United States. He has worked with many of the world’s largest companies, including his controversial work to help Walmart launch its sustainability efforts.
     
    Jon Raj is one of America’s foremost thought leaders in digital marketing strategy. For over 15 years, as a seasoned agency executive and client, Jon has driven profitable digital marketing initiatives for some of the world’s biggest brands. In 2008, he won the very prestigious American Advertising Hall of Achievement Award for his work as VP of Advertising at VISA where he spent seven years. Most recently, as Chief Digital Officer at Omnicom Media Group (OMG), Jon directed digital strategy for the holding company’s media group. Jon was the emcee at last year’s SF ADDY® Awards and we’re excited to have him in a return appearance.
